As for Binnie, reaching the finals was a first for him but the victory was unexpected having defeated the tournament favorite.
The Jamaican said that his opponent was a tough one because of his experience but solid play on his part, despite the tiredness, was the key factor to his victory.

It was an exciting match between the two seeded male players as their head squash rackets whacked away with the hopes of outlasting the other. In the end, the three unforced errors committed by Ramasra in the final parts of the game were costly and the victory was handed to Binnie.
